My Etsy shop offers paintings and drawings of midwest landscapes, the southwest US and the Canadian Rockies. Sometimes a still life will show up also. They are all made to share and so I hope that you enjoy them. Painted vintage suitcases, hand-made books, and occasionally other projects that I've explored will show up here, for you to enjoy.
I am a self taught artist, benefitting from occasional instruction from several talented teachers to whom I am sincerely grateful for their generosity.
I work in several mediums; pastel, oil, acrylic painting and pencil or pen and ink drawings. I tend to use a medium depending on how a subject feels to me. An old tree might end up in a pen and ink drawing and the sunrise seen from the ridge may become a pastel painting.
Inspiration for my artwork comes from the plants, animals and scenery of the Kickapoo region of southwest Wisconsin where I have lived most of my life. This area has exceptional ecological and cultural diversity, and is home to many rare plants and animals. The desert southwest. and the Canadian Rockies are other areas that inspire me to paint and draw.
Recently I've returned to graphic work with a series of line drawing illustrations for adult coloring books. All the illustrations in these books are from drawings, sketches, paintings or photographs I've done over the years.
